Privacy notice

Echoa uses the account, questionnaire, lesson, speech, and technical data needed to provide, secure, and improve Echoa. Privacy-masked product analytics and session diagnostics are automatically enabled for visitors and signed-in users. Other processing is necessary to provide the service, meet legal obligations, or pursue those legitimate interests.

Providers supporting authentication, hosting, email delivery, analytics, and error monitoring may process this data. During lessons, your voice and what you say are processed by AI services for speech recognition, pronunciation checking, the tutor, lesson notes and lesson memory, and by voice providers that speak the tutor's lines, which can include your first name. We also use AI models to review lesson transcripts and improve Echoa. By continuing past sign-up you agree to this processing. Processing may happen outside Switzerland or the EEA under appropriate safeguards.

When our ambassador programme is enabled and you follow a referral link, Echoa stores a referral identifier in your browser to connect that visit to a signup within 60 days. We associate that referral with your account to match the signup to later subscription payments, calculate partner commissions and reverse them when payments are refunded. Partners receive referral and earnings reports; learner email addresses are hidden in those reports. If you delete your account, we remove the referral visit identifier and replace your account ID in retained commission records. We keep the related Stripe customer, invoice, transfer and payout identifiers needed to reconcile refunds and meet financial record-keeping duties.

Links from adverts, and from Facebook and Instagram, can carry a click identifier added by the platform. If you sign up after following one, we store that identifier with your account. If you reached Echoa through one of our adverts (currently on Google), we report your signup and the completion of your first lesson to that provider to measure the advert, sending only the click identifier and the time. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in measuring our advertising. We place no advertising script or cookie on this site.

We email you when your next lesson is due. You can turn these reminders off on your Account page, and each email has a link to stop them.

We keep data only as long as needed, except where law requires otherwise. You can delete your account and its data at any time in Settings, on the web or in the app. To access, correct, or export your data, withdraw consent, object, or ask anything about privacy, email hello@echoa.app. You may complain to your local data-protection authority.
